Kristallnacht Through A Very Different Lens 2017 at Congregation Shaaray Shalom in West Hempstead,Nassau County, Long Island, New York.
Please join Congregation Shaaray Shalom for a very special presentation on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 4:00PM to commemorate the November Pogrom of 1938, which is known as Kristallnacht.
On this anniversary of Kristallnacht, Leah and Ed Freeberg will speak about their recent trip to three European capitals. This past summer they spent the last 2 weeks of August touring the Eastern European cities of Budapest, Prague and Berlin.
Leah and Ed Freeberg, recently visited the Eastern European cities of Budapest, Prague, and Berlin and were overwhelmed by the destruction and decimation of Europe's vibrant Jewish population. They will speak about the experience of standing on streets and in places where Jews were rounded up for mass deportations and murder.
Leah and Ed stood in the path of a beautiful garden, which now covers a mass grave of murdered Jews on the grounds of the largest European synagogue, and the second largest synagogue in the world. They visited a synagogue inscribed with the names of tens of thousands of Jews who were slaughtered at the hands of the Nazis, and stood near the bronze-laden stumbling stones with names of the victims, that were carved into the cobblestones of these cities.
Leah and Ed have seen first-hand and photographed the memories of the horrors of the Shoah through the lens of the "Baby Boomer" generation and want to share their story with you. Please join us for this very special and poignant event.
