Description: |
North Fork Breast Health Coalition 20th Anniversary 5K Walk Breast Cancer Awareness at Tanger Outlet Center in Riverhead, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.
The North Fork Breast Health Coalition is holding the 20th Anniversary "5K Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness" on Sunday, September 23. The fundraiser takes place at the Riverhead location of Tanger Outlet Center, which sponsors the event. Participants can pre-register or register 7:30AM-8:45AM that morning. The walk begins at 9:00AM.
The registration fee to participate in the 5K Walk is $25 if paid by September 15 and $30 if paid after that date or on the day of the event. The first 300 entrants will receive an official walk gift bag.
Walkers are encouraged to gather pledges of support from friends, family and colleagues. Top fundraising awards will be given in the following categories: Young adult (ages 13-19 years old), adult, business/team and breast cancer survivor.
Before the opening ceremony starts at 8:45AM, registrants can prepare themselves by enjoying a continental breakfast that includes bagels, muffins and fruit. There will also be an opportunity to buy raffle tickets for dozens of beautiful prizes donated by Tanger Outlet stores and other local businesses.
Although it is possible to sign up that day, registration in advance is recommended. To register or obtain more information, call 631-208-8889, e-mail nfbreasthealth@gmail.com or visit www.nycharities.org, where you can register online. Opportunities to participate as a sponsor of the event are still available and range from $150-$1,000.
The North Fork Breast Health Coalition is working to encourage and assist in the prevention, early intervention, and cure of breast cancer through advocacy, awareness, networking, and research. The funds we raise go directly to programs such as "Lend a Helping Hand", which provides grants to patients on the North Fork who are being treated for breast cancer. |
