9th Annual Sounds of Silence 5K Walk Run Stroller Walk Fundraiser Benefiting The Postpartum Resource Center of New York at Jones Beach State Park Field 5 in Wantagh, Nassau County, Long Island, New York.
Join us April 29th to raise funds that benefit the moms, dads, and families in your community.A special focus of this event is supporting the Lisa Mary Reilly Visioning Educational Series, which is part of Project 62™- Building a Perinatal Mental Wellness Parent Support Network and Safety Net in every New York State community.
The Sounds of Silence, Friends of the Postpartum Resource Center of New York is a fundraising committee of the PRCNY. All proceeds contributed support the essential programs and services of the Postpartum Resource Center of New York, Inc., a 501(c)(3) IRS recognized non-profit organization.
Entry Fees
Check-in day of race8:00AM-9:00AM. New this year: Register by midnight April 7, 2017 and get your name on your bib. Through April 21, 2017 adults $25.00; 11-18 $15.00; 10 and under $5.00. After April 21, 2017 adults $30.00; 11-18 $20.00; 10 and under $10.00.
Awards
Top overall male, female, and under 18 runners, top fundraiser (Individual & Team). Top male and female recognition in specified age groups; 12 and under, 13-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Commemorative T-shirts for 1st (250) entrants.
Pre and post-race refreshments and snacks. Race swag bag to first 500 registrants. Post Race Raffle: Designer Products, gift certificates, gift baskets and more. Participants need to be present to win.
Postpartum Resource Center of New York
The Postpartum Resource Center of New York, Inc. is the nonprofit IRS recognized 501(c)(3) organization in New York State representing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders support and education. Two Long Island women, Sonia Murdock and Emily Sampino co-founded the Postpartum Resource Center of New York, Inc. in 1998 after they each experienced gaps and recognized the needs in education, treatment and support services regarding postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis.
The Postpartum Resource Center of New York is a Mission Project of Westminster United Presbyterian Church in West Islip, New York. We are grateful for the support and leadership of the members of Westminster.

Project 62 Building and Strengthening Perinatal Mental Wellness Parent Support Networks and Safety Nets in all sixty-two New York State counties.
Mission
Increasing awareness and access to care for New York State moms, dads, and their families at risk for or experiencing a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (including postpartum depression) by:
- Increasing education, screening and treatment
- Providing support programs and services
- Training healthcare providers and consumers
- Building community partnerships
Goal
Empowering parents and the community to improve the lives of families by addressing maternal mental health and parenting with psychiatric disabilities. |
