Long
Island Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc. (LILRR)
- An all volunteer, nonprofit, tax exempt, charitable
organization established to secure the health and welfare of
abandoned and unwanted purebred Labrador Retrievers.
Representative of the Labrador Retriever Club National Rescue
Program, AKC Breed Rescue Network and Project Breed. LILRR is
not an animal shelter - Labs rescued by LILRR are fostered
within the private homes of breed knowledgeable volunteers for
thorough health, training and behavior assessment prior to
placement consideration. Priority focus is given Labs
jeopardized within the ever-crowded municipal (kill) shelters.

The Long Island
Parrot Society of NY, Inc. (LIPS) - A non-profit volunteer group
and club for bird lovers. Its purpose is to educate and instruct on the
proper care, handling and maintenance of psittaciformes, to encourage
companion bird and captive breeding programs, and to encourage research
and educational programs about parrots.

Parrot Preserve - The first and only Preserve in New York
dedicated exclusively to the permanent care of exotic birds. We do not
breed, sell, or adopt out any bird that comes through our doors. They
will live out the rest of their lives here, with dignity. We take in
birds that are no longer of pet quality provided they have no illnesses
that would threaten the rest of our flock. We handle mainly large Macaws
and Cockatoos but will take in smaller birds, room permitting. |

Long Island GreyHound Transfer (LIGHT) - The first and only Long Island
based non-profit, 501(c)3 all volunteer organization dedicated to
finding responsible and loving homes for ex-racing GreyHounds. We also
educate the public about the plight of the ex-racing GreyHound,
stressing their desirability as pets. We service all of Long Island as
well as the tri-state area. Contributions to LIGHT are tax
deductible.

Greyhounds
- Grateful Greyhounds, Inc., is a non-profit organization that is
committed to educating the public on the current plight of the ex-racing
greyhound, placing ex-racing greyhounds into suitable and loving homes,
and volunteering with our greyhounds in a pet therapy program to comfort
many members of our community. Grateful Greyhounds provides adoption and
community outreach services in NYC, Long Island, Westchester/Rockland
Counties, and parts of New Jersey. |

Long Island Rabbit Rescue Group - An all-volunteer group based on Long
Island, New York. We are devoted to the proper care of domestic rabbits,
education of rabbit owners, and the increased awareness about these
wonderful, loving creatures. Adopting a friend: LIRRG's goal is to help
every bunny have a safe, loving, indoor home. Our adoption procedures
include an interview process, home visits, and education of potential
adopters. There is an adoption fee to help us defray the cost of
veterinary care and spay/neuter of all of the bunnies we adopt out. |

Little
Shelter - A non-profit animal rescue organization staffed
mainly by volunteers. We take abused and abandoned animals from
the streets and from those awaiting death at the municipal
pounds. We provide a safe, caring and nurturing environment for
these animals while they are waiting for loving adoptive homes.
All prospective homes are carefully screened to ensure happy
endings. No animal is ever destroyed at Little Shelter unless he
or she is incurably ill.
Little Shelter is situated on six acres in Huntington, Long
Island, 30 minutes east of New York City. Our Sheltervale Pet
Cemetery operates on three acres. There are six buildings, two
kennels including outdoor runs, one large communal cattery with
individual rooms for nursing mothers, an isolation and medical
building and a five room house that serves as office and
administrative space. At any given time, we are the temporary
home to more than 300 animals.

The Circle of
Life Farm & Rescue - A non-profit animal sanctuary located in
North Great River, (Central Islip), NY. We are home to over 175 rescued
animals that were either neglected, abused, abandoned or unwanted. The
Circle of Life Farm & Rescue is dedicated to preserving the lives of
animals that we adopt and offering them a lifetime of caring and
compassion. Our intentions are to give them shelter, food, medical
attention when necessary and most importantly, an abundance of love and
attention.

Animal League America
- The largest pet adoption agency in the world. For nearly 60 years, the
League has worked to make the world a safer, friendlier, healthier place
for animals in need. Since 1944, the League has placed nearly 1 million
lost or abandoned pets in loving homes. North Shore Animal League
America is located in Long Island in Port Washington, New York. We are
open 365 days a year and have hundreds of puppies, kittens, cats and
dogs available for adoption.

Rocky's Fund Dog
Rescue/Welcome Home Sanctuary - An all-breed rescue, re-homing
and rehabilitation organization. In addition, we specialize in Elder
Dogs and Special Needs, providing sanctuary for a limited number of
dogs. We work very closely with several municipal shelters and other
no-kill shelters to prevent needless euthanasia and to get dogs into
their forever homes.

Katie's Critters Small Animal Rescue
- We are a private small animal rescue located off the Sunrise Service
Road South in Center Moriches. We take in unwanted, abused and neglected
small animals, provide necessary vet care, rehabilitate them, and place
them for adoption. Some animals stay here as sanctuary pets. We were
seen on News Channel 12 Long Island. We have been assisting many people
as well as small animals get through some difficult times. We are here
to help people who may have found it too difficult to care for a small
pet they aquired, or they may have found that a family member is
allergic to the new pet. We do not frown upon people. Everyone makes
mistakes, and situations arise in life that are unexpected, and they
need a little help or guidance. That is what we are here for. So if you
