Trails Society for this 11 mile
Northwest adventure. Meet at the Long
Pond Greenbelt Nature Center, 1061
Bridgehampton Turnpike. Walk from Cedar
Point County Park in East Hampton, to
the Nature Center in Bridgehampton's
Long Pond Greenbelt. We will park near
the Nature Center (Val Schaffner House)
and car pool to Alewive Brook Landing.
Driving directions to the hike
destination: from Route 27, turn right,
north on Bridgehampton/Sag Harbor
Turnpike (CR-79) for approximately 2
miles. Pass Scuttlehole Road on the left
and immediately to the right, find a
Nature Conservancy sign by a gated dirt
driveway. The driveway is to the Nature
Center (Val Schaffner House); it’s on
the east side of Bridgehampton/Sag
Harbor Tpk. about 100 yards north of the
Scuttlehole Road intersection. If coming
from the west you can follow Scuttlehole
Road from Rte. 27 in Water Mill all the
way to its end, then turn left onto CR79
and a quick right takes you up the

hike through two disparate but unique
