Rum Running: Talk and Tasting with Historian Amy Folk at Oyster Bay Historical Society in Oyster Bay, Nassau County, Long Island, New York.
In Hotels and Inns of the North Fork (2009), co-authors Amy Folk and Geoffrey Fleming fix their historian's lens on the subject of Rum Running. During Prohibition times, our local small ports were a favorite stop on the Rumrunner’s map, contributing to the 'leisure industry' of the day. Amy will share stories based on archival research; mixologist Paul Monahan of The Lin will make a Sailor's Rum Punch and share some tips. Drinks and appetizers served. This event will be held on the Village House patio. $20.00 per person. Registration required. Photograph courtesy of the Collections at the Library of Congress. |
