Description: |
30th Annual Glen Cove St. Patrick's Day Parade 2018 Irish at Finley Middle School in Glen Cove, Long Island, New York.
The Parade has taken place annually since 1989. It has grown to be the largest annual parade in Glen Cove and a civic celebration that is eagerly awaited each spring by all residents of the North Shore and the entire Irish community of Long Island.
St. Patrick's Day in Glen Cove this year will be even more special than usual because it will mark the 26th Anniversary of the Parade, which was first held in 1989. During that time the Parade, always a dazzling event, has grown to be the premier St. Patrick's Day celebration on the North Shore and the largest annual parade in Glen Cove.
The Parade begins to form up at 12:00PM in the area of the Finley Middle School on Forest Avenue. It steps off at 1:00PM, following the usual route through downtown Glen Cove to St. Patrick's Church. There is very ample parking in the municipal garages and at the end of the parade route.
The backbone of the parade, as always, will be its exciting mix of marching groups, including many bands of Irish pipers and other marching bands. Further color will be added to the festivities by vintage cars, costumed performers, face painters, fire and police units and much more. The parade is a true community celebration of the coming of Spring with many of our areas ethnic organizations, often in costume, taking part. Come, join the fun.
The Glen Cove St. Patrick's Day Parade forms behind the Finley Middle School, Forest Avenue. The Parade moves from the designated formation areas around the Finley Middle School and into Forest Avenue south of Dosoris Lane. It then follows Brewster Street to School Street. From there it moves into Glen Street. It then follows Glen Street to the end of Parade Route at St. Patrick's Church, which is located at the corner of Glen Street and Pearsall Avenue.
