Description: |
Westhampton Beach 2016 St Patrick's Day Parade Irish Heritage Event starting at Oneck Lane and Mill Road in Westhampton Beach, Long Island, New York.
The Westhampton Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee is pleased to announce that Mr. John Murray of East Quogue has been selected as the 2016 Grand Marshal. Mr. Murray is one of the main men behind the Coneheads, one of the best floats to ever march in the 49-year history of the Parade.
Often controversial, and never boring, the Coneheads have been a mainstay in the Westhampton area parade for more than 20 years. They poke fun at politicians, Hollywood elite and the media. The floats they create typically have almost 40 participants with most wearing a conehead prosthesis like the ones made famous on Saturday Night Live 30 years ago. Mr. Murray is the force behind the scene although he always takes part in the Parade action itself.
"We are proud to have John as our 50th-ever Grand Marshal" said Committee President Tim Laube. "Although never a member of the Committee, I feel like he always has been because the Coneheads are such a big part of the day".
