American Chamber Ensemble 3rd Concert of 50th Anniversary Season 2016 at Hofstra University Monroe Lecture Center in Hempstead, Nassau County, Long Island, New York.
The critically-acclaimed American Chamber Ensemble will perform the third concert of its 50th anniversary season on Sunday, April 10 at 3:00PM when the Music Department of Hofstra University presents the ensemble at The Helene Fortunoff Theater of Monroe Lecture Center on California Avenue on the University's south campus in Hempstead.
Repertoire will be music by American composers - Douglas Moore's Quintet for clarinet and strings, Amy Beach's Piano Quintet, Peter Schickele's Piano Quartet, Long Island-native Jonathan Russ' new solo piano work, written for ACE Director Marilyn Lehman, songs by Ned Rorem and other works TBA.
Performers will be pianist Blanche Abram, clarinetist Naomi Drucker and pianist Marilyn Lehman, with violinists Eriko Sato and Deborah Wong, violist Lois Martin and cellist Chris Finckel. Special guest will be ACE Hofstra student award performer Alex Lavoie, baritone.
Alex Lavoie is an undergraduate senior Vocal Performance major from Long Island, New York. Here at Hofstra, he has appeared in Hofstra Opera Theatre's productions of Dido and Aeneas (Aeneas), L'Ivrogne Corrige (Clen) and Die Verschworenen (Bastian). During his undergraduate studies, Alex also has had the opportunity to study under the direction of Dr. David Fryling as a member of both Chorale and Chamber Singers. Last summer, he participated in the Oyster Bay Music Festival here on Long Island and will be returning this summer as the Voice Intern for the program. In addition to his voice concentration, Alex also has a passion for arranging and has received awards for his a cappella arrangements during competition season. This year, Alex has received the William H. Rosencrans Honors Recital, which he will be performing in next Sunday. Next year, Alex plans to continue his studies in graduate school. |
