The acclaimed Canta Libre Chamber Ensemble will be in concert, performing music for flute, harp and strings on Sunday, August 2, 2015 8:30 PM at Chapin Rainbow Stage in Heckscher Park, 2 Prime Avenue in Huntington, NY. This is presented by The Huntington Arts Council.
Repertoire for this event will be Astor Piazzolla's Oblivion, arr. for Canta Libre, Jean Cras' Quintet for Harp, Flute and Strings, Marcel Grandjany's Aria in Classic Style, Villa Lobos Bachianas Brasillieras No. 5, arr. for Canta Libre and Ginastera's Impresiones de la Puna.
Performers will be Sally Shorrock, flute, Bradley Bosenbeck, violin, Veronica Salas, viola, Bernard Tamosaitis, cello and Karen Lindquist, harp.
About Canta Libre
Canta Libre was founded in 2002 by flutist Sally Shorrock to foster the performance and enjoyment of music specifically written for flute, harp and strings. Considered experts in this ephemeral, rare style of chamber music, Canta Libre was recently featured at The American Harp Society 50th Anniversary National Conference, has appeared at Lincoln Center, on WNYC at The Green Space, The Music Festival of the Hamptons, Barge Music, Concerts at One at Trinity Church in Manhattan, WLIW TV, National Public Radio of Long Island, and The Brooklyn Public Library. The ensemble's latest CD was designated "the best new US release" by BBC Music Magazine in March of 2011. Canta Libre is represented by Jeffrey James Arts Consulting.
