Description: |
Richard Shindell In Concert Presented by Greater Port Jeff Arts Council and WUSB 90.1 at First Methodist Church in Port Jefferson, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.
On Thursday November 6, 2014, at 7:30 PM, the Greater Port Jefferson-Northern Brookhaven Arts Council (GPJAC) in collaboration with WUSB 90.1FM's Sunday Acoustic Concerts proudly announces that legendary songwriter Richard Shindell will be appearing in concert in a very special solo performance. The concert will take place in the historic and acoustically magnificent First United Methodist Church, 603 Main Street, Port Jefferson Village.
Richard Shindell is considered among the finest songwriters of his generation, Born in New Jersey, Shindell grew up in Port Washington, Long Island, where he began to take guitar lessons. An expatriate New Yorker now living in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Shindell is a meticulous craftsman of song whose eleven studio albums and 2 live recordings have been revered by critics and fans alike. Innovative, original and occasionally spiritual, Shindell's songs weave tales that interchangeably champion the downtrodden, exalt the disaffected or wax empathetic to those lost to society's fringes.
Richard Shindell is as compelling a song interpreter as a songwriter, and we expect to hear selections from his brand-new release Tomorrow You're Going, a collaboration with his long-time singing partner Lucy Kaplansky.
This very special concert will be held in the acoustically magnificent First Methodist Church in Port Jefferson. This historic 1893 building is handicapped accessible. Please email info@gpjac if you have special needs when you purchase your tickets, so that we can reserve parking and seating for you. |
