Long Island Music Hall of Fame 2014 Red Carpet Fundraising Gala with Special Guests Roger Waters, Dionne Warwick, Felix Cavaliere at The Paramount in Huntington, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.
Please join us at the Red Carpet Awards Fundraising Gala for the Long Island Music Hall of Fame 2014 Fifth Induction Class, for an evening of entertainment, honors and music industry giants. This year's inductees include music mogul Clive Davis, with Dionne Warwick presenting his award; Concert Promoter Ron Delsener will be inducted by Pink Floyd's Roger Waters; Billy Joel's Original Band; Lyricist Gerry Goffin; Re-mixer and Record Producer Steve Thompson; Singer-songwriter Debbie Gibson; Rapper & Producer Kurtis Blow; and Broadway Legend Patti Lupone (will not be present). The 2014 Harry Chapin Award Recipient is DMC of Run DMC. Performances in R&B, Oldies, rock and a musical tribute to Gerry Goffin featuring members of the Tokens, Toys and Cookies will all take place in one amazing evening. Other honorees: Music Educator of the Year Award, Student Music, Non-Profit Scholarships, and a special award to mark the anniversary of Billy Joel’s historic trip to Russia.
LIMHoF, a 501(c)3 organization, is dedicated to the idea that Long Island's musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. Created as a place to inspire in each person the desire to explore and celebrate music in all its forms and to be a place where the music community will find the support, resources and leadership necessary to aim them in that exploration. Past LIMHoF inductees included Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Lou Reed, Ramones, Billy Joel, Carole King, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Mariah Carey, Taylor Dayne, Gary U.S. Bonds, New York Philharmonic's Clarinetist Stanley Drucker, Gospel Singer Donnie McClurkin, Blue Oyster Cult's Eric Bloom and Buck Dharma, Simon and Garfunkel, Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, and Louis Armstrong.
