Audrey Schneider and Arbie Orenstein have performed as duo-pianist for the past thirty-four years, while simultaneously maintaining individual careers as teachers, solo pianists, lecturers and accompanists. They have performed together at Queens College, the Bethpage, Shelter Rock and Massapequa Libraries and the Nassau County Celebration of the Arts.

Arbie Orenstein was born in New York City, attending the High School of Music and Art, Queens college and Columbia University Graduate School where he received a Ph.D. in Musicology. He is the author of Ravel:Man and Musician (Columbia University Press, 1975, reissued as a Dover paperback in 1991), and Ravel: Lettres, Ecrits, Entretiens (Flammarion, 1989), which was translated into English as A Ravel Reader (Columbia University Press, 1990, reissued by Dover in 2003). His books have been translated into German, Italian and Japanese. As a pianist, he has accompanied many outstanding cantors and concert artists and has recorded the world premieres of several works by Ravel which he discovered in France while studying in Paris on a United States Government Fulbright grant.

Dr. Orenstein is Professor of Music at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College where he has taught for the past 45 years. His courses focus on European music history as well as Jewish music. He is the editor of Musica Judaica, a scholarly journal devoted to all aspects of Jewish music, and a regular contributor to the French journal Cahiers Maurice Ravel. In 1998 Dr. Orenstein was knighted by the French government, receiving the medal of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters.

Audrey Schneider received the Master of Arts degree in solo performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, where she also completed the Bachelor of arts degree, Summa Cum Laude. A guest performance with the CBS-TV Concert Orchestra, under the baton of Alfredo Antonini led to an invitation to create and perform four televised programs for children, exploring classical music and dance. She performs regularly in solo and duo piano recitals, as well in collaboration with singers and instrumentalists at Queens College, Brandeis University, Williams College, Princeton University, Bethpage, Massapequa, Long Beach and Shelter Rock Public Libraries and at Steinway Hall in New York. Ms. Schneider is a faculty member of the Golandsky Institute at Princeton University and maintains her private teaching studio in
West Hempstead, New York.

Distinguished Guest Artist, Soprano, Shira Lissek is a versatile artist, equally at home on the opera, concert, cabaret and musical theater stages. Her operatic performances include Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni with the Seattle Opera and Mimi in Puccini's La Boheme at the Philadelphia Kimmel Center. She has performed popular show tunes in the Gulf Coast Symphony's Evening with Irving Berlin, A Musical Tribute to Barbara Streisand and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Broadway Blockbusters. She was honored to perform with Eli Wiesel at a Holocaust Memorial Concert in Tennessee, and recently she represented the Jewish community, singing in the Sounds of Faith series at Riverside Church in New York.

The daughter of Cantor Leon Lissek and granddaughter of Rabbi Pinchos Chazin, she is proud to continue their tradition, and was recently appointed Assistant Cantor of the Park Avenue Synagogue. She has previously served congregations in Fort Lee, New Jersey and Kansas City, Missouri.
