About Hicks Nurseries
We Love Gardens As Much As You Do
Founded in 1853, Hicks Nurseries is the largest nursery and garden center on Long Island. We offer a wide selection of indoor and outdoor plants, flowers, outdoor furniture and accessories to beautify your garden and home.
Hicks Nurseries continues to be the ultimate source for an exceptional selection of indoor and outdoor plants. We also offer an extensive collection of casual furniture, garden accents and silk flower arrangements you can't find anywhere else.
Hicks offers free seminars and workshops throughout the year on everything from the care and feeding of roses to the latest varieties of shrubs and perennials? All are taught by our own inimitable experts or outside botanical luminaries.
Also, many unique family events are hosted by Hicks. From our annual Spring Flower and Garden Show, to summer activities (such as a tomato-growing contest), to our fall festival with hayrides and Otto the Ghost, to Christmas at Hicks with Santa Claus and our own animated show, this is the place for gardeners of all ages. It's no wonder then that shopping at Hicks is always a fun event, never a chore.
The Hicks goal? Simple. Offer expert advice, provide outstanding selection, and make gardening success easy. We want to ensure that no gardener will ever have to throw in the trowel. After all, we love gardens as much as you do.
About The Long Island Chrysanthemum Society
Dedicated To The Amateur "Mum" Grower And All Chrysanthemum Lovers of Long Island NY and The World
Under the direction of LICS Past President John Capobianco, the Long Island Chrysanthemum Society has established a demonstration garden at the Cornell/Cooperative Extension East Meadow Farm. Every month from July to October, John and other LICS members will demonstrate techniques appropriate for development of outstanding exhibition chrysanthemums. The general public is invited to attend and learn these techniques for creating the Queen of Fall Flowers. For further information, contact John by e-mail at jecapobianco@yahoo.com or by phone at 516-263-2717. The garden will use organic techniques. No synthetic fertilizers, insecticides, or herbicides will be used. The garden will feature examples of both spray and disbud exhibition mums from all thirteen bloom types as well as a few garden hardy types. The garden is located at the East Meadow Farm, 832 Merrick Avenue, East Meadow NY 11554, on the west side of Merrick Avenue south of Hempstead Turnpike and north of Southern State Parkway. |
