32nd Annual 2015 Oyster Festival Long Island - Project of Oyster Bay Rotary in Oyster Bay Village and Waterfront in Nassau County, Long Island, New York.
The Oyster Festival, the East Coast's largest waterfront festival with more than 200, 000 attendees, returns this October for its 32nd year, offering a fun mixture of new activities and old favorites that are certain to entertain the entire family. The Oyster Festival is a project of the Oyster Bay Rotary Club and funded by the Oyster Bay Charitable Fund. The Oyster Festival offers a fun mixture of new activities and old favorites that are certain to entertain the entire family including live entertainment, Tall Ships, top-notch artisans, pirate shows, midway rides, and the iconic oyster eating and shucking contest. And of course...the Food Court, where volunteer chefs and culinary pros work side by side, cooking and serving dozens of unique oyster, clam and other seafood concoctions along with traditional festival fare. Profits from all food court sales directly support 25 participating local charities while proceeds from carnival rides and merchandise sales is donated to additional charities supported by the Rotary throughout the year. Admission and parking free. Most activities are free. A family-friendly event, the Oyster Festival remains alcohol-free and pet-free.
Our Storied Past: More than 150 years ago, Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States was born to a wealthy family that summered in Oyster Bay not far from the waterfront property that today bears his name. To honor his memory, community leaders organized a parade to celebrate his 125th birthday. The parade proved so successful that it provided the roots of what would become the Oyster Festival in 1983.

Celebrating 32 Years of Family Fun, Great Food and Fundraising
The 32nd Annual Oyster Festival is a project of the Rotary Club of Oyster Bay. The Rotary Club of Oyster Bay, a part of Rotary International, is a volunteer organization whose members embrace the motto of "service above self". Volunteers from the Rotary Club of Oyster Bay produce the Oyster Bay Oyster Festival through its charitable arm, the Oyster Bay Charitable Fund, Inc. The concept behind the Oyster Festival in its present form is to leverage the power of the Rotary volunteers by raising money directly to support local community organizations and Rotary projects through the Oyster Bay Charitable Fund, and by assisting local not-for-profit clubs and organizations to raise their own funds through participation in the Thomas Reardon Memorial Food Court at the Festival. Of course, the Oyster Bay Oyster Festival has the added benefit of showcasing the hamlet of Oyster Bay and the beauty of the waterfront to all who attend, as well as being just plain fun. |
