Merry Merfolk Parade 2015 Long Island NY For Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk starting at Broad Street in Greenport, North Fork, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.
The Sirens' Song Gallery, with the support of the Greenport BID, take pleasure in presenting The Merry Merfolk (formerly Little Merfolk) Parade. The beneficiary of this event will be Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County's Back to the Bays Program.
Merry Merfolk will be an event within an event during Greenport Maritime Festival on Saturday, September 26, 2015. The parade is open to all and will be both fun and whimsical, while helping draw attention to the importance of our marine ecosystem. The parade will wind through the Village of Greenport and be followed by an award ceremony and luncheon at Scrimshaw restaurant on Preston Dock at the foot of Main Street overlooking Peconic Bay. There will be awards for the best costume; music; lunch prepared from local produce and seafood from surrounding waters; and two cocktails to commemorate the occasion using rum from an East End distiller, and a non-alcoholic local cider drink for children.
In addition to the parade and luncheon, Song Gallery is developing a chocolate commemorative lollipop from Chocology, a North Fork chocolatier. Proceeds from sales will also support CCE's Back to the Bays Initiative! The first of a series of these confections will be a dark chocolate with a splash of sea salt. Donors contributing $500 or more will receive one of the first pops off our production line along with other promo perks listed above.
All donations are tax-deductible and will support the marine education and stewardship-based programming of Cornell Cooperative Extension's Back to the Bays Initiative.
We hope you consider supporting this effort through sponsorship or participation in the parade. Registration is free, but required in advance so sign up today to ensure your spot in our parade and luncheon. |
