Description: |
46th Annual Fuoco Memorial Golf Festival 2015 Long Island To Benefit Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck at Bellport Country Club in Bellport, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.
As always, it is sponsored by the Patchogue Rotary, the Fuoco Family friends. 100 percent of the event's net proceeds go directly to Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck to provide hundreds of special-needs kids and their families with an invaluable summer respite. The camp welcomes children with physical or developmental challenges, and provides these kids with a daily or sleep-over experience that includes medical care, swimming, an animal farm, row boats, camp fires, and lifelong friendships that these special kids might otherwise never have the opportunity to enjoy.
This year, we are honoring Marcella Weiss and the memory of Marie Frey. Marcella originally joined The Moriches Pa-Qua-Tuck Squaws nearly 30 years ago. Together with her sister Marie Frey, they founded "Spooky Walk" at the camp, which has become a huge Halloween event on Long Island, raising over $1.5 million for the camp to date. Much of the Spooky Walk's success is due to Marcella and Mari's tireless efforts and hard work, along with the Squaws, their friends and their families.
Marcella and Kirk Weiss are part owners of Kurt Weiss Greenhouses, which continues to donate supplies and manpower to the camp. Marcella is proud of her children's involvement, namely Kirk Jr., Joseph, Marc and Michele. Although Marie Frey passed suddenly in 2011, her legacy lives on through her many family members and friends who continue to volunteer and participate in the annual Spooky Walk, especially her children Michael, Marielle and Robert.
About Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck
A Special Camp for Children with Disabilities
Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck's mission is to help children and young adults ages 6-21 with both physical and developmental disabilities achieve equality, dignity, and maximum independence through a safe and quality program of camping, recreation and education in a summer-time environment. In a structured, compassionate environment, the children engage in a number of activities designed to broaden their horizons.
All people, regardless of ability level, have the right to opportunities found in the world around them. Individuals with disabilities, as well as their families, should experience year-round recreational and respite care activities in a camp setting. The camp provides opportunities for social and personal growth within a supportive environment. Individuals with special needs learn to try a variety of creative and challenging activities and experience success. Campers develop enhanced self-esteem which carries over to work, home, or school environments.
