31st Annual Long Island Oyster Festival - East Coast's Largest Waterfront Festival in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York.
The Oyster Festival, the East Coast's largest waterfront festival, returns this October for its 31st year, offering a fun mixture of new activities and old favorites that are certain to entertain the entire family. The Oyster Festival originated as a hometown parade honoring Theodore Roosevelt before evolving into the largest outdoor festival on Long Island, under the auspices of the Oyster Bay Rotary. Every year, more than 200,000 visitors flock to an Indian-summer weekend on the waterfront in downtown Oyster Bay drawn by live entertainment, Tall Ships, top-notch artisans, pirate shows, midway rides, and the iconic oyster eating and shucking contest. And of course the Food Court, where volunteer chefs and culinary pros work side by side, cooking and serving dozens of unique oyster, clam and other seafood concoctions along with traditional festival fare.
The Oyster Festival is unique since it is run by a non-profit (Oyster Bay Charitable Fund) for the benefit of 27 non-profits within the confines of the Oyster Bay - East Norwich School District. The festival committee consists of volunteers from the Oyster Bay Rotary Club and other community groups. The committee has been working hard since November to make this year's Oyster Festival the best it can be.
The Oyster Festival is a fun family festival, with something for everyone. Tall Ships, a petting zoo, live music, delicious food, carnival rides, arts and crafts, antiques, interactive exhibits, harbor cruises and Audrey Avenue our version of Main Street USA. The Oyster Festival is an alcohol free event.
