Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 6:00PM the Farmingdale State College Engineers Club presents Rail Transportation In Italy - a collection of photographs in a PowerPoint presentation, set against contemporary and classic backdrops, captured by National Railway Historical Society's New York Chapter Historian and Director, Joseph M. Calisi. Admission is free.
Electric Railroaders Association members travel the world to experience public transportation first hand. Joseph M. Calisi joined them for their visit to Italy in 2012. He captured spectacular images of northern and central Italy's public transportation networks of trams, trolleys, funiculars, ropeways and Italian high speed Frecciarossa trains.
In addition, the presentation includes an 11-minute 2003,Telly Award winning video documentary, featuring the last days of mainline steam railroading complete with billowing plumes of steam in scenic Inner Mongolia, China. A few steam engines still operate on a limited branch line service in China but the mainline service stopped in 2005.
Known as The International Transportation Photojournalist since 1993, Mr. Calisi has contributed to the information world in print (magazines and newspapers) and electronic media (TV reporter and interviewee, radio and websites) for over 20 years.
