From American To Enemy Japanese Internment Racism and Lessons For Today at Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County on Long Island, New York.
The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) presents "From American to Enemy: Japanese Internment, Racism and Lessons for Today." From 1942-1946, the United States military imprisoned 120,000 people of Japanese heritage; two-thirds of the interned were American citizens. About 60,000 of these "enemies" were children. Two of those Japanese Americans who were forced into internment camps in 1942 are the featured speakers at the program, Mitsue Saladar and Madeleine Sugimoto. |
