A special program, "Slaves, Not Prostitutes: Sexualized Slavery by the Japanese Military during WWII" at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County. The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) presents a special program "Slaves, Not Prostitutes: Sexualized Slavery by the Japanese Military during WWII." Speakers include Kang II-chul, sexual slave Survivor ("comfort woman"), and the president of the "House of Sharing."
Kang II-chul was kidnapped by Japanese soldiers when she was 16-years old and sent to two Japanese military bases in China. She was kept in complete isolation and repeatedly raped for two years until she was liberated by Korean partisans. She now lives at the "House of Sharing," the home for the living comfort women in South Korea.
