Let's cook, Long Island. Discuss why fruits and veggies are good for you. That's a wrap. This North American inspired healthy lunch cooking class for kids will get them loving real food. They will learn to make a whole grain turkey and cranberry Wrap, Hard-Boiled Eggs, and enjoy a variety of their favorite fruits, cheese, and veggies. Bento is a Japanese style of eating where lunch items are packed into a wooden or plastic box with individual compartments. Bento lunches consist of a balance of food groups, colors and textures. We will provide a Bento style reusable container.
Let's Cook Long Island
The mission of Let's Cook Long Island is to fight childhood obesity by teaching children life skills in the kitchen, and empowering them to make better choices that will lead to a healthy lifestyle.
Let's Cook Long Island teaches children ages 2 and up about nutrition and healthy cooking through fun classes, camps and birthday parties. Each cooking class will start with a 30 minute educational activity or game followed by the class cooking 2-4 healthy recipes. We show the children how to make the recipe, and then they make it themselves. This is a fun, interactive hands-on cooking class. Classes will be 1 or 2 hours in length, depending on the age group being taught.
