The name Clamshell Foundation was chosen to honor those on the East End of Long Island who made, and still make a livelihood from the waters of Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. Clamshells can be found everywhere.
Since the first SandCastle Contest in 1992, funds have been raised to support the people, programs, and projects of the East End of Long Island. In 1996 when The Clamshell Foundation was formed as a 501c3 not-for-profit Corporation. We have been committed to giving 100% of all profits back to our community. We are all volunteers and grants are made locally to the people, programs and projects here on the East End.
Contributions to The Clamshell Foundation not only ensure that the SandCastle Contest and Fireworks Show will continue, but help support our endeavors to foster and protect the very reason we live here. We have since taken on the support assistance for other worthy community based projects such as:
- The Olman Sanabria Humanitarian Award
