Description: |
At the conclusion of the performances, a panel of judges will select seven finalists that will have a chance to receive a share of $25,000 in scholarships from Five Towns College at the finals in October. There is a $25.00 entry fee due along with an official entry form and performance demo no later than Wednesday, March 16, 2016. For more information and the official rules, click on the registration form link. Reservations are required for the performance and cost $10 per person. Light refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the Ward Melville Heritage Organization and Five Towns College.
Official Contest Rules
- Long Island students 10-17 years of age in Nassau or Suffolk County students must still be in high school at the time award is given in October 2016
- Entry categories include non-professional vocal performances and musical instruments only
- Students are limited to one (1) three minute performance
- Must supply own equipment
- Dress code (family show)
- No drugs/alcohol
- Proof of age must be submitted along with DVD.
- Entry fee $25.00
- WMHO reserves the right to reject any entry that we deem to be offensive to the general public.
- Contestants advancing to the finals must perform (three minutes) at one of WMHO's summer concerts (Sundays in July and August)
- Performances at the summer concerts should be songs that are familiar with the general public performances at the finale may be original songs. No songs may repeat.
Performance Procedure
- Submit an audition DVD no longer than two (2) minutes recording your talent. DVDs cannot be returned. You can also provide a link to a YouTube video of your performance, if you prefer
- If contacted after submission you will be asked to perform at The Educational and Cultural Center in Stony Brook Village Center on April 8, 2016 at 6:30PM. A distinguished panel of judges will choose seven finalists
- Each of the seven finalists will perform at WMHO's Summer Concerts on one Sunday evening in July or August 2016
- All finalists will perform on Friday, October 21, 2016 at WMHO's Educational and Cultural Center in Stony Brook Village. Winners of Long Island's Got Talent 2016 will be announced at that time
The performers agree to hold The Ward Melville Heritage Organization harmless and waive any claims against The Ward Melville Heritage Organization for any of the performers' materials or property brought to, exhibited or utilized at the WMHO Educational and Cultural Center. |
