Classical Training For Younger Artists 2016 Children's Art Summer Camp at Teaching Studios of Art in Oyster Bay, Nassau County, Long Island, New York.
This summer your child can experience something totally new: an immersion into the world of traditional drawing and painting. There is a long history of famous artists getting their training as children. Did you know that Pablo Picasso began his classical training at age 11, and that both Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo apprenticed as young children under master artists, starting at age 9? At the Teaching Studios of Art, we continue that tradition in Summer Camp 2016. There is no other summer program for children on Long Island as comprehensive as ours.
Young artists who join our Summer Camp learn time honored academic methods of drawing and painting. They also learn about various disciplines such as illustration, landscape, sculpture and more. And we make it fun, while staying true to classical methods. Because if don't enjoy themselves, they won't be eager to learn. Not only do we expose them to Old Master Paintings, we also introduce them to the great Golden Age Illustrators of the 1890-1920's.
Children come out of each workshop week with a better understanding of key concepts of drawing and painting: how light works, value, color and much more. All materials are included. The workshops are age specific, with some weeks being appropriate for ages 9-12, and others being for ages 6-8.
