Second Saturdays Family Fun Fall 2015 at Hofstra University Museum in Hempstead, Nassau County, Long Island, New York.
In each session, led by HUM educators, kids ages 5-10 or 10-12 and their grown up companions explore works of art and engage in a hands-on activity inspired by what they have seen and discussed.
Circle It - September 12, 2015 1:30PM-2:30PM
Explore artist Doug Hilson's use of circles and color in his "urbanscapes" and then create a colorful circular work of art.
Drive It! - October 10, 2015 1:30PM-2:30PM
This session, we will check out sculpture made of old auto parts and using found objects, you will then create your own work of art.
Scope It! - November 14, 2015 1:30PM-2:30PM
"Look into" the mystical, colorful urban landscapes of Doug Hilson and then make your own kaleidoscope to bring some of the magic home.
Resist It! - December 12, 2015 1:00PM-2:30PM
Explore Doug Hilson's "jungle" of colorful landscapes, and then use materials to create an exciting metropolis of your own. Please note: This session is suited for children ages 10-12 and runs 1:00PM-2:30PM.
Admission: $5.00 per child for each prepaid session; $7.00 per child when paid the day of program. $9.00 per child for two prepaid sessions. $12.00 per child for three sessions when prepaid. Free admission for adult companions, HUM members and Hofstra students/faculty/staff/pier members with valid Hofstra Card. Did you know members get free admission to programs? 1 free child per individual membership, 2 free children per family membership. Members can also be moved to the front of the wait list line when a session is sold out. This program is made possible with funding from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
