Description: |
This class teaches conceptual skills that will help improve students' perceptual skills. The artist's vision will become more refined and precise, giving him/her the ability to create figures full of power and grace.
This class deals with how to work from a general to an extremely specific format, which is the foundation for creating contemporary classical figures. The framework for the figure is the skeleton. With the knowledge of the proportions of the bones and how they move in relationship to each other, the artist has the tools with which to become much more creative and dynamic in translating life energy into form.
Once we have established how the masses of the body are subdivided, we will move to the next step of constructing the musculature. The bones are seen as the architecture of the body, while the muscles are seen as the spiral forms that move across this framework.
Extreme attention is paid to the hierarchy of importance in regards to how smaller parts fit into larger parts and their relationship to the whole. The student will be taught how to move through these steps in an organized fashion. The two elements that will be constantly addressed are: constructing and diagramming form. |
