Description: |
Last year we discovered a thriving colony of "lost ladybugs" thought to be extinct in New York State, right at the Trust's Quail Hill Farm.
This year, we'll return to the farm with scientists from Cornell University and the folks from the South Fork Natural History Museum to search for more of these rare red "ladies" the nine-spotted "Coccinella Novemnotata."
Join us in the search and be a citizen scientist. We'll gently capture, identify and release ladybugs and all data collected will be used by Cornell's "Lost Ladybug Project", a national research study examining the changes to the ladybug population across the US.
Please wear sunscreen and bring a digital camera if you have one. Children must be accompanied by a willing adult participant.
Free admission. Rain cancels. Please park on Deep Lane and meet us at the farmstand. |
