The Sandcastle Contest - The Great Bonac Fireworks Show

The Clamshell Foundation in East Hampton, Long Island, New York is a nonprofit corporation, producer of The Sandcastle Contest and The Great Bonac Fireworks Show to enrich the lives of others in our community by fostering education in health, cultural and environmental fields of endeavor.

The name "Clamshell Foundation" was chosen to honor those on the East End of Long Island who made and still make a livelihood from the waters of Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. Clamshells can be found everywhere. In September of 1997 we were approved as a New York State 501c3 not-for-profit corporation under the name of The Clamshell Foundation. The purpose of the corporation, as stated in our charter, is to enrich the lives of others by fostering education in health, cultural and environmental fields of endeavor.

We began, prior to incorporating as a 501C3, with a concept formulated in 1991, to produce and promote the 1st Annual East Hampton SandCastle Contest. Our first event took place on August 26, 1992 at the Atlantic Avenue Beach in Amagansett, NY. We are now in planning for our 19th Annual event. We have since taken on the support assistance for other worthy community based projects such as:

- The Odie Fund
- Olman Sanabria Humanitarian Award
- College Scholarships
- Church Food Banks

100 percent of all profits from all projects are donated to the people, programs and projects here in the Town of East Hampton. We are community based and supported and to date, we have now made over $110,000.00 in local grants. Contributions to The Clamshell Foundation can help support projects and our endeavors to foster and protect the very reason we live here.
