Description: |
The Art of Andy Warhol Traveling 2016 Summer Exhibit at Long Island Children's Museum in Garden City, Nassau County, Long Island, New York.
Combining history, creativity and the visual arts into one exhibit, visitors willexplore the silkscreen process from beginning to end and learn about a leading figure of the "pop-art" movement, which began in the 1950s. Step into a working silkscreen studio, similar to Warhol's "Factory"; create an original piece of art; dress up like the characters seen in Warhol paintings and play with toys like those collected by the artist. Original artwork featured in the exhibit is from Warhol's Myth Series; including characters familiar to children such as Mickey Mouse, Santa Claus, the Wicked Witch of the West and Uncle Sam.
Visitors can claim their "15 minutes of fame" at Long Island Children's Museum this summer as they step into an interactive and creative environment inspired by the work of the artist Andy Warhol. The Art of Andy Warhol will be on display from June 4 through September 4, 2016. The traveling exhibit was created by the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh. The exhibit's residency and associated public programs are supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Andy Warhol was a major figure of the Pop Art movement that reflected everyday life and common objects. Warhol and other Pop artists blurred the line between fine art and commercial art and experimented with new technologies and methods, such as mass production, fabrication, photography, printing and serials.
Visitors to The Art of Andy Warhol exhibit can explore three areas:
- Silkscreen Studio
- Art Gallery
- Costume and Book Center |
