The Dix Hills Park Skating Rink of Dix Hills, Long Island, New York is an indoor rink and open year round. Dix Hills Park Skating Rink Ice Skating Rink was founded in 1993. Daily lessons are offered and during the week, you likely can just show up and drop into a lesson. Public skating sessions are also offered daily and skate rentals are available.

Ice Skating Instruction at Dix Hills Ice Rink
The Parks and Recreation Department runs one of Long Island's most extensive ice skating instruction programs at the state-of-the-art Dix Hills Park Ice Rink. Instructional classes for all ages and skill levels are offered once a week over a six (6) week session. Sessions are repeated run year round and fees per session range from $75.00-$100.00 (skate rental is extra). Course range from "Mommy and Me" for tots as young a three to Basic 7, the last stop before private skating lessons. Dix Hills Park Ice Rink follows USFSA guidelines. The skills at each level must be mastered to register for the next level. Click on a course title for full skills overview:
- Mommy and Me: Ages 3-4 (new to skating with mom or dad)
- Snowplow Sam 1: Ages 4-5 (new to skating)
- Snowplow Sam 2: Forward skate, glides, snowplow stops
- Basic 1: Glides, swizzles, wiggles, hops
- Basic 2: Glides, turns, backward swizzles, moving stops, pumps
- Basic 3/4: Forward stroking, one-foot glides, circles, outside turns
- Basic 5/7: Crossovers, spins, hockey stops, side toe hops
- Hockey: Beginner (must be able to forward skate)
- Hockey: Intermediate (forward and backward skating required)
Fee: $75.00 for Youth with Parks and Recreation ID Card; $85.00 without ID Card.
Fee: $80.00 for Adult with Parks and Recreation ID Card; $90.00 without ID Card.

Ice Skating Camp at Dix Hills Ice Rink
Ice Skating Camp designed for all skating levels. A full day program with on-ice and off-ice training for all skaters as well as time in the Dix Hills Pool for everyone. There are ten (10) ice skating camp sessions during the summer. Sessions are five (5) days with the exception of Session I. It is four (4) days (no classes on July 4th).
Rates: $275.00 per week with Parks and Recreation ID Card; $325.00 without ID Card (Session I is $220.00 per week with ID Card; $260.00 without ID Card. Skate rental: $4.00.
Time: Monday-Friday 9:00AM-3:30PM
Eligibility: Ages 6-14 years. |
