Benner's Farm 2017 Children's Summer Camp at Benner's Farm in East Setauket, Long Island, New York.
Be a farmer for a week and experience summer life on a real working farm. 2017 will be our twentieth year of summer camp and it will be a great one.
Regular Camps
School Aged Children (5 to 14 years old) may register for 1/2 day morning 9:00AM-12:00PM, 1/2 day afternoon 1:00PM-4:00PM or full day sessions 9:00AM-4:00PM. With a different theme each day, campers are busy learning about animals, plants and nature, history, science, crafts and food. Each week includes fun and games of all kinds, special guests, and creative endeavors. Our campers are assured of a wonderful and entertaining summer experience in a very unique environment. Eight weeks are available this year and every camper gets a special farm tee shirt. Snacks are provided morning and afternoon. Full day campers must bring their own lunch.
School age campers are divided into several groups:
Explorers and Senior Campers
Our Explorer group follows children 7-11 through the rest of their elementary years. Due to the many requests from campers and parents we have extended the age of older campers to accommodate the 12-14 year old group. These Senior Campers will assist counselors, have more responsible farm chores, extended craft projects and will be encouraged to participate in creative independent and group presentations. AM and PM sessions.
Kinder Camp
Our Kinder Kamp group is specially designed for tots and early school-aged children. We maintain a 6:1 camper to counselor ratio with this group. This active hands-on program will surely delight your youngsters as they experience and learn about the animals and plants of the farm. Crafts, snacks, music and lots of fun will be had by all. Classes are small, so register early. Ages 3 up to 6 years.
Counselor In Training
In addition we are offering a Counselor In Training program for select 15-16 year olds who apply and meet the criteria. This certification program will give CIT's the necessary training and experience to be able, upon completion, to apply for work as a paid camp counselor after two years (or at age 18). AM and PM sessions. Anyone interested in this program must apply by mail or in person.
For each session there are 3 time slots:
AM half day- 9:00AM-12:00PM
PM half day 1:00PM-4:00PM
Full day camp 9:00AM-4:00PM
2017 Camp Week Dates
We start June 26, 2017 first week of camp. No camp from July 3-7, 2017. Six more weeks start, July 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7, 14, 2017. Hope to see you this summer.
Refund Policy: Registration begins February 1, 2017. A ten percent fee will be deducted from all cancelled sessions to cover administration costs. Benner's Farm
Old Fashioned Family Farm
Benner's Farm is a private fifteen-acre family homestead, first farmed in the 1700's. Each year the farm provides thousands of people a sense of what it was like to live on a small farm in years past. The Benner's are the seventh family to farm this land. They have been farming organically since the late nineteen seventies in their family garden and fields of strawberries, and also raise a variety of farm animals for self-sufficient living. Thousands of people come to visit and participate in the many workshops, festivals and special events during the year.
