Description: |
Nassau County Soil and Conservation District "Let It Rain" Art for Conservation at Old Bethpage Village Restoration in Old Bethpage, Long Island, New York.
Because the Long Island area is alive and seething with an abundance of creative artistic talent, this annual benefit stresses the importance of water to all living things and our planet Earth, through an art sale exhibit. Art for Conservation fundraiser is structured to feature an item decorated and embellished by some of the best Long Island artists for our silent auction, art exhibit and sale. A portion of the proceeds are donated back to the Conservation District for their work in the community by each artist. "Residents need to know how important water is. Encouraging the population to celebrate water and get people thinking differently is our focus" added Curator and event Co-Chair Debra Ann Kasimakis (Co-Founder of the Long Island Fringe Festival.) "The artists are creatively helping express this through their works. Hopefully, the public will leave the event with some tips on how they can positively impact the environment". This year's fundraiser is featuring umbrellas, so "Let it Rain" we have you covered. Please join in a celebration of water and all it means at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, 1303 Round Swamp Rd, Old Bethpage, NY on May 3, 2014 between 3 and 7PM. Light refreshments and finger foods will be served. A suggested donation $10.00 will go directly to the District's programs to build eco-friendly school and community gardens as well as environmental education.
About Nassau County Soil and Conservation District
Working together for healthy soils and clean water
The Nassau County SWCD is a valuable entity in the natural resource protection of Nassau County. Since its beginning in 1977, the district has been working with Nassau County, towns, villages and private individuals to enhance and protect the environment. Through our affiliations with Geese Peace International, the USDA Resource Conservation and Development, the Long Island Native Plant Initiative and many more organizations, Nassau County SWCD is growing a regional presence. The District is continuing to work toward the goal of developing locally driven solutions to natural resource concerns. This year’s activities demonstrate how the Nassau County SWCD is helping to put conservation in the forefront of people’s minds. |
