Preserving The Harvest Vinegars and Vinaigrettes Workshop at Hallockville Museum Farm in Riverhead, Long Island, New York.
Think spring and dress your salad greens with your very own homemade vinaigrettes after taking this class, the third installment of the "Preserving the Harvest" series presented by A Taste of the North Fork and Hallockville. Learn how to make your own using fresh, local healthy ingredients in this hands-on workshop. Participants will take home two bottles with them and enjoy samples of various vinegars/ vinaigrettes during the class.
Vinegar
Vinegar is a liquid consisting mainly of acetic acid and water. Vinegar is commonly used in food preparation, in particular in pickling processes, vinaigrettes and other salad dressings.
Vinaigrette
Vinaigrette is an emulsion of vinegar and a form of oil, such as soybean oil, canola oil, olive oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, peanut oil, or grape seed oil, and sometimes flavored with herbs, spices, and other ingredients. It is used most commonly as a salad dressing but also as a cold sauce or marinade.
