27th Annual African American Read-In 2016 Black History Month Celebrations at Westbury Memorial Public Library in Westbury, Nassau County, Long Island, New York.
Works written by African Americans will be read by school students. The goal of the Read-In Chain is to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. Participants please register at your school. This program is sponsored by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English and is endorsed by the International Reading Association. Enjoy music from Westbury Middle School Jazz Ensemble. Hospitality will be provided by members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Pi Pi Omega Chapter.
Westbury Memorial Public Library

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an American federal holiday marking the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. It is observed on the third Monday of January each year, which is around the time of King's birthday, January 15.
